Sustainability
It is our mission to lead a movement towards a circular, climate positive and transparent beauty industry, where refills, recycling and regeneration are simply responsible business.
A linear ‘take, make, waste’ model of beauty is not sustainable, and we need to bring an end to it fast. For beauty to truly be sustainable, it has to be a circular model of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’.
By doing so we will reduce billion units of waste being incinerated or going to landfill, and reduce carbon emissions by up to 70% (source: LCA Centre).

Carbon Positive
Aligning with the urgent objective of the United Nation’s 2015 Paris Agreement (halving CO₂ emissions by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2050), Emma Lewisham is Climate Positive certified at a product level.
We all have to change the way we have been doing things, and that change has to happen now.
We have gone further than becoming carbon neutral, as it is no longer enough just to sustain – we have to regenerate.
As part of our commitment to positive impact, we are Climate Positive certified at a product level, meaning that after reducing our carbon emissions as much as possible, we then offset more than what remains in order to not just neutralise our impact – but create a positive one.
Beauty Circle
Through our circularity programme ‘The Emma Lewisham Beauty Circle’ we take ownership and responsibility for everything we produce by taking back all of our used packaging globally, to be either sterilised and refilled, or recycled.
It is important to understand that most beauty containers are not kerbside recyclable, so initiatives such as this are vital in order to redirect waste from landfill and move towards circularity.
It is estimated that alone, the beauty industry is responsible for over 100 billion units of waste every year - all of which are either incinerated, sent to landfill or end up in our oceans.
Alongside this, the sheer volume of single use packaging produced makes it the biggest contributor of carbon emissions in the industry.
It is predicted that in moving the beauty industry away from the existing linear model of ‘take, make, waste’, and towards a circular model, of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’, not only could we eliminate billions of units of waste, but carbon emissions could be reduced by up to 70%.
