AFW Runway Ritual: Isabella Schimid’s Backstage Ritual for Beare Park

For this year’s Australian Fashion Week, we were proud to partner with luxury fashion house Beare Park and renowned makeup artist and skincare therapist Isabella Schimid to bring a radiant, skin-first beauty look to the runway.

At the heart of this collaboration was the global debut of our latest innovation—the Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Glow Serum. Uniting skincare, suncare and beauty, this bronze-tinted, all-in-one serum delivers broad-spectrum SPF protection, deep hydration, and an instant luminous glow.

Isabella’s skincare-centric philosophy put natural skin centre stage, with models wearing no makeup—just bare, radiant skin. To prep and perfect each complexion, she created a bespoke Emma Lewisham ritual to nourish, strengthen and illuminate from within.

This backstage ritual is a beautiful expression of our skin-first philosophy—and our belief that working in harmony with the skin’s natural processes is the key to restoring your healthiest, most radiant skin. Whether you're getting ready for a special occasion or simply want to elevate your everyday glow, this five-step routine is designed to support skin that looks and feels its best.

Step 01. Double cleanse with Illuminating Oil Cleanser followed by Illuminating Exfoliant
“I always start with a double cleanse, which is the most important step in prepping the skin before makeup. First, I use the Emma Lewisham Illuminating Oil Cleanser, massaging it gently into the skin, paying extra attention to the lips and eyes—especially because some of the models will be coming from other shows. It’s important to remove all dirt, makeup, and bacteria from the day. Then, I follow up with the Illuminating Exfoliant for the second cleanse. This helps to get rid of any dead skin cells and brightens the skin. If the skin is feeling a bit sensitive, I like to mix the exfoliant with the oil cleanser for a gentler exfoliation. I always remove the cleanser and exfoliant with a damp face cloth or sponge to ensure everything is thoroughly removed. When it comes to applying makeup, there is nothing worse than skin that has not been cleaned properly. It’s like an artist painting on a dirty piece of canvas—skin that hasn’t been cleaned and exfoliated can be uneven, discoloured and make my job that much harder to perfect.

Pro Tip: I like to do this routine in the evenings and use a Gua Sha to really massage and stimulate the skin. It not only feels amazing, but it helps get the blood and lymphatic system moving, giving you a deeper clean.”

Step 02. Supernatural Face Oil
“Next, I use about 3 to 4 drops of Supernatural Face Oil and then grab whatever massage tool I’m in the mood for—usually a Gua Sha or Cryo tool. I give the girls a good, relaxing massage to help de-puff the skin and boost blood circulation. This really brings the blood to the surface, leaving the skin with a healthy, natural flush. Massaging is essential in creating the best-looking natural glow and flush to the skin. Using a cold Cryo tool helps calm and soothe any inflammation and de-puffs the eye area and tones the skin. Non greasy and super luxurious on the skin and great for all skin types, the Supernatural Face Oil is a natural alternative to retinol—impressively, it is scientifically proven to outperform 1% retinol at stimulating the cells that produce collagen—and can be worked well into the skin for a fast-absorbing glow.”

“I’m focusing on skin and that natural, healthy glow for Beare Park’s show, which no brand does better than Emma Lewisham.”

Step 03. Supernatural Sleeping Mask
“The Supernatural Sleeping Mask is a game-changer for waking up with glowing, hydrated skin and one of my favourite products. You apply it before bed, and while you sleep, it deeply nourishes and optimises the skin’s natural renewal and repair processes. The formula is packed with powerful ingredients that help lock in moisture, smooth out fine lines, and boost the skin’s natural radiance. It’s like giving your skin a reset overnight, so you wake up with that healthy, dewy glow.

Pro Tip: I like to massage in Supernatural Sleeping Mask all over the skin as a makeup primer prior to my makeup application. It plumps and hydrates like no other product I have ever used. Massage it in well and especially over the lips. It’s the best lip balm. Then apply your foundation, concealer etc.”

Step 04. Skin Reset Eye Crème
“Skin Reset Eye Crème brightens and refreshes the delicate skin around your eyes. It targets puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines, leaving the eye area looking more awake and revitalised. The lightweight formula absorbs easily and works its magic throughout the day (or night). Gently massage in Skin Reset Eye Crème, using a patting motion. This helps mimic the lymphatic system and makes the eye area look brighter. You can also use a small tool or Cryo tool.”

Step 05. Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Glow Serum
“The Emma Lewisham Mineral SPF 50 Glow Serum gives your skin a sun kissed radiance. I love that it’s packed with nutrient-rich ingredients that not only brighten the skin but also help boost hydration and give a subtle warmth to the skin. The serum has a light silky texture that blends effortlessly, leaving you with a dewy, healthy glow. Buff the Mineral Glow Serum into the skin using a blending brush for a smooth, even finish. Use approx. 2 pumps. If the model has a deeper skin tone, use the serum on its own. For medium or lighter skin tones, adjust the intensity by mixing it with some of the Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Face Crème for a soft glowing effect.

Pro Tip: For an extra pop of glow, mix the serum with the Emma Lewisham SPF 50 Mineral Face Crème and apply it to the eyelids and cheekbones. This will give those areas a lovely, subtle shine!”
